What am I looking at?

A population of little triangular creatures foraging for food while trying to avoid poison — each one born with its own randomly generated “DNA” that dictates how strongly it is attracted to, or repelled by, what it sees.

The green dots are food and the red dots are poison. Every frame a vehicle looks for the nearest food and the nearest poison, then combines those two impulses into a single steering force. Eating food tops up its health, eating poison drains it, and a constant background hunger means that doing nothing is not an option.

A vehicle's colour reflects its current health, fading from green when thriving to red as it starves. Once health hits zero the vehicle dies and is removed from the swarm.

With Debug enabled each creature shows two antennae: the green line is its appetite for food and the red line is its appetite for poison. Longer lines mean stronger attraction, and a line flipped to the opposite side means the weight is negative — the vehicle is actively repelled by that item. Poorly tuned DNA (loves poison, ignores food) dies out quickly; well-tuned DNA lingers.
